at my nine to five, i’m working on a feature for our december issue in which we highlight charitable organizations that are doing outstanding work across many fields (cancer research, domestic violence prevention, saving elephants, and protecting our oceans, just to name a few). but my personal favorite (of course) involves saving dogs’ lives. the best friends animal society‘s mission is to save dogs and cats housed in kill shelters. according to their website bestfriends.org, about six pets are euthanized PER MINUTE in shelters. it’s an absolutely astounding and sobering statistic. i hope my fellow pet-lovers will visit the site and see all of the amazing work that this organization is doing, and consider making a donation. after all, the season of giving is upon us.
